Electroplating and chemical process water contains heavy metal ions, complexing agents, acids, alkalis, cyanide and high salinity. Our systems separate the streams by character and treat each with the appropriate chemistry and membrane technology.
A typical plant combines chemical breaking / reduction / precipitation for the concentrated stream with ion exchange and RO on the dilute rinse stream, so that most rinse water is recovered and returned to the plating line while metals are concentrated for recovery.
This both meets discharge regulations and cuts fresh water intake, giving a fast payback on water and metal savings.
